Let’s stop committing educational malpractice!

Since antiquity, the great orator has been the model for great education. While teachers are still vital for student learning, cognitive scientists have over the past 100 years revealed that our most common teaching practices are not always the best way for our students to learn.

This presentation will describe how Duke-NUS medical school faculty decided to stop committing “educational malpractice” and instead use the best evidence to put together a new innovative learning strategy called TeamLEAD. TeamLEAD allows our students to not only benefit from learning “facts”, but also practice 21st Century skills (critical and creative thinking, problem solving, teamwork and leadership) in the classroom.
